EXT-DES

Detailed description of the data product

Also known as flat exposure in DES terminology. This is an input product to the DES pipeline. It contains 70 extensions (one for each DECam CCD) with the data of a single flat exposure.

The main elements inside this product are:

  • Observation: Contains information about the telescope pointing (Telra, Teldec, HourAngle, ZenithDistance, Epoch), the observation night and date, and the optical air mass.

  • Saturate: Global saturation threshold valid for amplifiers A and B.

  • Filter: The DECam filter name (DECAM_g, DECAM_r, DECAM_i, DECAM_z or DECAM_Y).

  • DataStorage: Element that links to a FITS file containing the flat exposure image dataset.
