Detailed description of the data product

Master Bias Calibration Pipeline result, using a series of bias calibration exposures to calculate a MasterBias to be used in other ou-vis pipelines.

Master Bias is the offset of each pixel relative to the pedastal . Pedastal is constant offset per quadrant added by the electronics.

Used by Bias Correction tasks in several pipelines: (ProcessField, LargeFlat, CTI, DistortionModel, PRNU Small Scale Flat, NonLinearity, BrighterFatter, XTalk)

A rectangular region is used to measure the pedestal of each frame. That is subtracted from each frame before they are combined. start-end measuring the main bias offset level. CCD pixel columns and lines are numbered 0 to N-1, relative to the readout node, so that the same values are appropriate for all quadrants. This means that [0,0] is the first pixel to be read out. Start and end values are both inclusive. NOTE that this is DIFFERENT from the convention used in FITS files, which relates to the physical X,Y axes of the focal plane.” main_bias_col_start = 2104 main_bias_col_end = 2127 main_bias_line_start = 2070 main_bias_line_end = 2085

Each pixel is the sigma-clipped mean of the value of that pixel in all the frames.

The final product will be 144 extensions based on the quadrants identified by the EXTNAME, which is a combination of CCDID (CCD-Row then CCD-Column) and QuadrantID i.e. 2.3-H, size of quadrant images 2128x2086 pixels in ADU units.
