EXT-DES

Detailed description of the data product¶

Also known as science exposure in DES terminology. This is an input product to the DES pipeline. It contains 70 extensions (one for each DECam CCD) with the data of a single science exposure.

The main elements inside this product are:

Observation: Contains information about the telescope pointing (Telra, Teldec, HourAngle, ZenithDistance, Epoch), the observation night and date, and the optical air mass.
Saturate: Global saturation threshold valid for amplifiers A and B.
Object: The survey object name. For example, DES survey hex 906-339 tiling 8, Field 74.
Filter: The DECam filter name (DECAM_g, DECAM_r, DECAM_i, DECAM_z or DECAM_Y).
DataStorage: Element that links to a FITS file containing the science exposure image dataset.
