The common thread to my research is the diffuse gas between galaxies on the larest scales: the intergalactic medium. This gas represents the majority of `normal' matter in the universe. I am interested in this gas for what it tells us about galaxy formation, for its use as a cosmological probe and for itself.
I am particularly interested in massive spectroscopic surveys can provide toward these goals. I was a member the Lyman alpha forest team of the, now complete surveys BOSS/SDSS-III and eBOSS/SDSS-IV . Further to the future I am the survey lead for WEAVE-QSO as part of WEAVE (set to begin in 2022) and I am a survey member and former working group chair for DESI (which began in 2021). Most recently I became a Science Work Group Coordinator for MOSAIC , the future instrument on the ELT, with a focus on the key science case "Inventory of matter".
